Watt to do when debt raises its head

Watt to do when debt raises its head If one of the major contributors to debt is your electricity supplier, you may be interested in a new trial which will soon be launched. It could be the perfect way for you to cut out one of those massive monthly bills when you're already undergoing a debt solution, or considering a serious way to end your debt, like IVA or bankruptcy.

Fifteen thousand families will be provided with a smart meter to allow them to work out exactly how much each electrical appliance in their home is costing them to run. The meter will have a small screen to show how much energy each appliance uses at any one time or within each subsequent 24 hour day. These results could shock thousands of homeowners who are often baffled by high electricity bills. As a result, people will start to remember little things such as turning the TV off completely rather than leaving it on standby, or turning lights off in rooms that are unoccupied.

At present, customers are unaware of the amount of debt that they clock up by electricity over usage. They are also unaware of the effects of their misusage on global warming.

Customers are more likely to become responsible for electricity, if they can actually see the amount of energy used and the cost involved in watching TV, surfing the net or making a cuppa.

Carbon emissions must be cut in order to reduce the amount of harmful gases we add to the atmosphere. A smart meter will allow each householder to see exactly how many carbon emissions they are adding to the environment and help to save the planet as well as their bank balance.

If you're struggling with debt and considering an IVA or bankruptcy, try contacting a company specialising in debt management.
